Fully autonomous fatigue strength measurement according to EN 13749

The test center was commissioned to carry out on-track tests to verify the fatigue strength of the bogie frame in accordance with EN 13749.

Solution approach:

The autonomous measurement campaign was carried out as part of the on-track tests for the fatigue strength verification of the bogie frame in accordance with EN 13749, whereby the measurements were carried out as part of normal commissioning. After setting up and installing the sensors (more than 50 measurement channels in total), the DAQ system was set up using our ACQUA measurement software so that the recording is started and stopped automatically using a trigger. This meant that an on-site test engineer was no longer necessary and the measurement was monitored online by the Graz office. This ensured that the plausibility of the measurement data was always checked and any anomalies were reported in good time. However, on-site intervention was not necessary during the entire measurement period of approximately 11 weeks.

Results:

The on-track tests to validate the structural strength of the bogie frame were particularly cost-effective for our customer thanks to the fully autonomous execution of the measurement campaign. In total, it was possible to record more than 6500 km of measurement data for the evaluation, while at the same time the commissioning of the vehicle was carried out.
